Rare punk rock 45 THE IRRITATORS Whack the Dolphin 1981 pic sleeve synth noise Shipping Info Description Scarce 45 rpm vinyl: So Cal new wave synth art-punk: THE IRRITATORS – “Whack the Dolphin” b/w “Voodoo Boogie”. Robey Records, Newhall, California, Rob 2S, stereo, 1981; in the original plastic two-color picture sleeve. I would have to guess that this was a tongue-in-cheek punk-rock f-u answer to the state of indie music in So. Cal in 1980/1981 and the shift in interest to new wave synthesizer bands, an ironic and satirical release in which the name of the band clearly announces how terrible the music is going to be. Kind of a “Men’s Recovery Project” of the early-80’s? Sleeve is clean with flap intact. Labels are clean. Vinyl has a touch of minimal scuffing and a long smudge to the a-side caused by the sleeve flap. Near Mint/Very Good+.
