Rare vinyl 78 picture record c.1930 Elizabeth Arden, Dr. Noble St Thomas Choir

Up for sale I have a rare vinyl Merry Christmas record from beauty product creator Elizabeth Arden and  Thomas Noble’s St Thomas Choir. The record is from the 1930s and comes with its very own needle. It was packaged by the Lishness shop in Augusta Maine. Below is some interesting info about the people on the cover of the record. The photo of Miss Arden was taken in 1930. I can make out a serial number W1817-2 on the bottom of the Choir side (and very hard to see) it also says made in USA. On the Elizabeth Arden side it says 1817. Size is 5 5/8" Diameter.

Florence Nightingale Graham (December 31, 1878 – October 18, 1966), who went by the business name Elizabeth Arden, was a Canadian US businesswoman who founded what is now Elizabeth Arden, Inc., and built a cosmetics empire in the United States. By 1929 she owned 150 salons in Europe and the United States.

Behind the red door on Fifth Avenue, in New York City, is where it all began, and where the Elizabeth Arden flagship store and famous Red Door Spa still stand. Miss Arden chose red to catch people’s attention, but it also fittingly became a symbol for female independence in the early 1900’s, as it still is today. (Thank you, Monsieur Louboutin!) Women marched for the right to vote wearing Elizabeth Arden red lipstick, and when thousands of women joined the war effort during W.W. II, Miss Arden created several shades of red with inspiring names like Victory Red to co-ordinate with their uniforms. From that point on, a crimson pout became a beauty staple for iconic women from Elizabeth Taylor to Marilyn Monroe.

Thomas Tertius Noble (May 5, 1867 – May 4, 1953) was an English-born organist and composer, resident in the United States for the latter part of his career. After studying at the Royal College of Music he served as Organist and Choirmaster at Ely Cathedral from 1892 to 1898, then at York Minster from 1898 to 1913, during which time he also conducted the York Symphony Orchestra, and composed pieces for them. His last appointment was at St Thomas Episcopal Church in New York City from 1913 to 1943, where he was responsible for establishing a choral tradition along Anglican cathedral lines. Dr Noble also founded the Saint Thomas Choir School for boys in 1919.
