Here’s an ultra-rare 78 rpm pressing of Ray Campi’s rockabilly classic “Catapillar.” The original issue of the 45 of this is scarce, but this 78 pressing is practically impossible to find. I can find only one other copy of this 78 that has ever sold online (in March 2021 for $1225 for a copy that was in comparable condition to this one).
If you’re into rockabilly, as I am, then you’ve probably heard this track. If not, go check it out. It’s great.
Grading-wise, this record has a lot of light superficial scuffs and scratches. It plays in strong VG condition, with light background noise that never overpowers the music. I’ve tried showing some of those light marks in one of the accompanying photos. I believe a cleaning could possibly improve the sound even more, but my experience is mainly with cleaning 45s and LPs so I will leave that to the buyer. (Unless you want me to clean it Joe Bussard-style in the sink with a shoe brush. Actually, no I won’t do that. It’s amazing to watch, though).
This record will be insured and packed with the utmost care inside a standard record mailer that will then be packed inside a larger box full of padding. It will be sent free of charge via priority mail. If you’d prefer instead FedEx or UPS let me know and I’ll see what I can work out.
