As a collector for about twenty years I grade albums according to Goldmine grading standards and usually grade a little conservitively to avoid any disagreements about condition. Albums are shipped safely in a cardboard record mailer with the record in a seperate sleeve. If you have any questions about the album feel free to send me an email/message.
DESCRIPTION Cool Jazz / Classic jazz. Doesn't sound like most Ray Charles albums and several of the tracks are instrumentals only. The album sounds more like something you would find on the Blue Note jazz label. Lots of keyboard/organ and saxaphone accompanyment. A Japanese pressing of the 1961 US lp by Ray Charles with Quincy Jones and Ralph Burns responsible for the most of the musical arrangements. Flip back style sleeve with laminate on front and back, but not a gatefold cover. Most likely an original pressing from the early 1960's since it is pressed on very thick unflexible 1960's type vinyl and the sleeve is a flip back style. The 1961 US original mono album has the catalogue number A-2 and has the same label design, so this album is most likely the original early 60's Japanese equivelent to the US album. But I am not 100% sure when it was pressed. I bought it from a retired US Army officer who's wife was from Korea. Record label credits both Ray Charles and Quincy Jones as the artist. Song titles on the record are in English while song titles on back cover are in both English and (apparently) Japanese. The label and cover have both Impulse and King Records Ltd. Japan credits. Trail off numbers are 151B-1 and 152-1-1-2. Photos are the best I can get with a cell phone camera.
CONDITION Cover/Record -- VG+/ NM- The cover is structurally very sound, seams and spine are very strong with almost no wear. Cover laminate has several light creases but otherwise no other problems. No splits, No writing, No stickers, No tape. A very presentable cover.
The record is a comfortable NM- Perhaps a couple of tiny superficial scuffs under 100 watt bulb but otherwise very clean. I would say at least a 9 or better on the 10 point scale.
