Description
Rüdiger Carl's long-standing partnership with Irene Schweizer began in 1973 and continues to the present day and for a three year period, from 1973 to 1976 he was also a member of Globe Unity Orchestra. He began to give solo performances in 1977 and in 1978 started two other long-term professional partnerships, with Sven-Åke Johansson and Hans Reichel. Rüdiger Carl has probably made the most striking change in improvised music, virtually forsaking the quintessentially jazz instrument - the tenor saxophone - and taking up one with totally different associations and means of expression: the accordion.
Messer is a trio recording with Irene Schweizer (piano) and Louis T. Moholo (drums) with Carl playing alto and tenor saxophones and clarinet. The set was recorded on 19 May 1975 during the New Jazz Festival, Moers (tracks 1 and 2) and on 11 December 1975 at FMP-Studio, Berlin (tracks 3 and 4).
Vinyl: Excellent, clean shiny vinyl, has only very few hairline marks (no scratches), very little lessening in sound quality, clean labels.
Cover: VG+ to Excellent, shows some slight ringwear and wear on the sides. Small green sticker on the back.
