Very very hard to find album of self composed songs recorded by one Lindsay Peck (no, I‘ve never heard of her either) with backing from her local school choir. Usually hyped as some sort of folk album and while I can see why really the folk element here is minimal but it does have a lovely sound with very sparse musical backing (usually just guitar, flute and piano only occasionally augmented by other instruments) fronted by gorgeous female vocals which have a real delicate ethereal floating feel, a bit similar to the best tracks on the Bridges album, the backing by the kids choir spoil it for me but thankfully they’re not on every track and for the solo tracks you can see how this became highly sought after. Has sold for very high prices in the past, a while back I remember seeing one copy with a four figure price tag but don’t let that put you off, just offer what you think it’s worth to you but remember…..you will not find a better copy than this!!

Condition:

Sleeve: The sleeve is actually just a gatefold piece of card, blank inside but printed front and back. I suppose the top and bottom could be glued or taped to make it into a proper sleeve but I’ve never known anyone actually do that.

The front is really clean with no tears or creases anywhere, there is a name and date (Chris & Sue 4 Oct 1975) written right in the top right corner which would normally look out of place but the thing is that a lot of the people involved have signed the front sleeve so it looks like just another signature! In all there’s 11 signatures on the front (presumably this was the school choir but intriguingly they’re all girls names! The boys mustn’t have wanted to be associated with the record!) and I can’t really decide on whether they enhance the sleeve or not.

The rear sleeve is thankfully signature free though, again it’s very clean with no damage at all to mention, no writing, no tears, no creases, no wear of any sort.

Inside the gatefold is just completely blank brown card, it‘s clean though without any writing or anything to detract.

As already mentioned the sleeve doesn’t have top or bottom seams.

The spine is completely blank white card with no writing on it, it is clean though and still square and straight and I have no doubt that if it did contain writing then it would all be clearly readable.

Record: The disc is pretty much perfect. I’m reluctant to grade anything of this age as mint but this is about as close as it gets. It was actually pressed by Saydisc and by the standards of most private pressings is incredibly good sound quality. It’s extremely clean with that lovely dark sheen that only very rarely played records have. Viewed under normal daylight it just look perfect, completely flawless. When held under a very harsh lamp which shows every little mark again there is nothing to see, simply no surface marks of any kind, not even the light hairline caused by taking it in and out of it’s sleeve. This is obviously a record which has been very well cared for and rarely played by the previous owner.

The two labels are in perfect condition. Both are very clean with no writing, stickers or tears and very little visible spindle wear.

When played it’s every bit as good as it’s visible condition would suggest. The sparse delicate nature of the music means that even the quietest background noise would be very evident but this is simply flawless. It’s a very good clean pressing with a clear distortion free sound. There is simply no surface noise at all throughout the entire record, it’s entirely silent both between tracks and during the very quiet music, simply a joy to listen to and how I wish that all of my records were in this sort of condition!
