For sale is a vintage Red Raven Magic Mirror – Excellent Condition! Works Great! Record side titled The Little Red Engine appears to be playable, but the back side shows some separation of the plastic. I've never played this record although many are available online.

This original 1950s-era mirror is in excellent condition with clear, undamaged reflective panels that produce sharp, vibrant animations when used with Red Raven records.

More about Magic Mirror – Red Raven Records The Magic Mirror by Red Raven Records was part of a unique record-playing system designed for children in the 1950s and 1960s. The records were 78 RPM picture discs that featured animated images embedded in the grooves. When played on a turntable equipped with a special Red Raven Magic Mirror, a reflective, prismatic ring placed around the turntable's spindle, the images appeared to animate as the record spun.

How It Worked – The Red Raven records had 12 pictures arranged in a circle around the label. The Magic Mirror was a red-colored reflective ring with 12 mirrored facets. When the record spun at 78 RPM, the images in the record's artwork reflected in the mirror in such a way that they created the illusion of motion, like an early version of animation. Why It Was Special It combined music and animation, making it a fascinating and interactive experience for children. The system was simple yet effective in bringing static images to life without any electronics. The records featured classic children’s songs, often performed by orchestras and choirs.
