Description
Item: BOXED, REEL TO REEL, STEREO, 2-Track Tape:
Carpenter ADVENTURES IN A PERAMBULATOR - Howard Hanson conducting the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra - MERCURY MDS5-2 (A Mercury LIVING PRESENCE Stereophonic Tape Recording).
This tape has been played, but I did not test it. This is a nice find for lovers of Classical music, John Alden Carpenter,or just the incredible fidelity that can be found on these vintage 2-track stereo tapes!
Tape speed 7.5ips, for in-line heads(2-track). See pictures & description below for further information. I do not know professional grading, so I will try to describe item as fully as possible. Please email with questions(preferably at least 48 hrs. prior to auction close).

Box: The box is in nice overall condition with all corners solid and intact. There are no de-laminations but there are a couple of tears in the box cover wrap at the top edges. Front: Light shelf wear(hard to see unless the box is angled in the right light). Rear: Same as front but because of the white background, more of the smudges are visible. Some can be cleaned up with very light rubbing with a damp cloth . Edges: Almost no wear can be found, but there are the breaks about 1" long on the front & back box top edges. One of the corners has a very slight ding. Spine: Very light wear, similar to rear. Interior: Very nice condition. The interior is off-white and there is a number, H 0 7 0 0 1, stamped in the rear box. There is an insert(see below) but no liner notes other than those which appear on the exterior box rear.
Reel: Tape The tape has been played. There is some light wrinkling for about the first foot or so at the leader end of the tape. Spool is a clear plastic, Mercury Logo embossed spool with some smudging/scuffing front & back. The label(front only) is in nice condition but appears a bit darkened and shows signs of wear in spots. Stereophonic. Playing Time: Unknown. (see photos)
Liner Notes: Factory affixed to the rear box exterior. These notes contain technical discussion about "Hi Fi" and info about the piece and the composer.
Inserts: A six panel insert that contains thumbnails of the many offerings of Mercury at the time and additional marketing efforts.
Featured Artists: Howard Hanson conducting the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra
Tracks: 1. En Voiture! 2. The Policeman 3. The Hurdy-Gurdy 4. The Lake 5. Dogs 6. Dreams
