Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.
Here we have Robert Livingstone Thompson, better known as Reggae, Ska and Rocksteady pioneer Dandy.
This is his own production (see the RLT credit on the label) for Giant records, and it was very popular in the clubs in 1967.
The tunes are “We Are Still Rude” and “Let’s Do Rock Steady” (putting the best song on the B side... why did reggae/ska labels do this?).
This is the original issue, and is numbered GN7 A/B.
The Bodysnatchers took this song (at about twice the speed!) into the charts in 1980. It was a VERY different version, but still credited to Dandy.
This is a nice clean copy with tidy labels and a few light-to-moderate scratches (unfortunately, most of them on the B-side-which-should-have-been-the-A-side).
These don’t matter a hill o’ beans.
It’s cut VERY LOUD and it plays well, without hop, skip or jump.
Let’s call it a very useful VG heading towards VG+.
I commend it to the house.
Buy more than one item and you may qualify for a postage discount.
I am not a dealer.
I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).
I'm selling most of this stuff for much less
than I paid for it.
What a great business plan (I don't think)!
I am certainly NOT INTERESTED IN PROFIT..
..and indeed, seldom make any!
What little profit I do make goes to help
a very splendid Wildlife Rescue Charity.
The item in the photograph is the item you will get.
I have described everything to the best of my ability, and it looks in useful condition to me.
Please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
NO OVERSEAS bidders please.
And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.
I am a simple sort, and I want my buyers to be happy. If there is any kind of problem, I like to sort it out personally. I can’t do this if you’re thousands of miles away!
