Description
Here is the extremely rare first mono Parlophone pressing of 'Revolver' by the Beatles made on August 5,1966. It is the RARE FIRST PRESSING with all the required points. It has the small "mono" on front of cover. It is the Earnest J. Day cover as stated lower back right. It has the first day "remix 11" of "Tomorrow Never Knows" on side 2 which is matrix XEX 606-1. The "11 remix" was replaced by a different mix after the first day of pressing. Has the PMC 7009 Parlophone yellow and black labels. Has "Dr. Robert" on side two which was later changed to "Doctor Robert". The matrix numbers are SIDE 1: XEX 605-2 and SIDE 2: XEX 606-1. Side one mother /stamper has '1' at 9 o'clock & 'GP' at 3 o'clock. Side two mother/stamper has '1' at 9 o'clock & 'A' (no/very light cross line thus inverted V) at 3 o'clock. It has the expected front laminated tri-flipback mono cover and the original white "Patents Applied for" and "Made In Great Britain" inner sleeve. Although I'm no expert, the FIRST PRESSING labels look excellent and cover and inner sleeve are near mint with normal age yellowing of the white inner sleeve--see photos. The record would grade near mint. There are NO marks that can be seen under halogen light on both sides. Both sides lie 100% flat. Consequently, the sound quality of the record is NEAR MINT. There is NO trace of any groove or play ware.
'Revolver' is considered by many to be the greatest album of the Beatles. If you have a Beatles or Rock and Roll record collection, this would be one of the cornerstones of the collection.
