Great condition, you will find it very difficult to find another one in such condition! 

Rare original 1966 Parlophone PMC 7009 

UK Mono pressing in great condition, plays really well.

Side 1:       XEX 605 - 2 (it also has "A P" at approximately the 2 'o clock position)

Side 2:       XEX 606 - 1 (it also has "R R" at approximately the 3 'o clock position)

This copy has sat on my shelves alongside many others un-played, but not unloved, for over 40 years and I guess it’s time to let it go to someone who will appreciate it and play it more often.

I bought this new when it was first released and the vinyl has always been kept clean. It has been recently “vacuumed” on my Moth Record Cleaning machine using L’Art du Son” cleaning fluid, which has no alcohol in it, to restore it to its original lustre. This LP has never been loaned out so I know its entire history. Please bear in mind that this was played on a Dansette record player and also on my parents' radiogram although, remarkably, this has not caused any appreciable wear to the grooves.

Vinyl:                  Very Good+ (Plays really well)

Plays really well albeit with soft surface noise throughout, although this is not evident except in quieter sections. It has a mark on "Taxman" that causes about a dozen soft "bumps" (as opposed to clicks) but as this is behind the music it is not unduly distracting. There is some soft crackle evident on the lead-in on Track 1 on both sides and in between tracks although this is when there is no music so it has no effect on replay.

Please note: There are quite a few extremely fine, non-sounding, hairlines (probably cause by removal from the inner sleeve), on both sides. This is being extremely critical. Other than that this is probably the best copy of this LP in this 

condition 

you’ll be able to lay your hands on at a reasonable price (unless you know someone, such as me, who has had a copy from new, always kept it scrupulously clean and never loaned it out.

I have played this on my latest set-up which is Project Perspective deck, Ortofon Kontrapunkt b cartridge through Musical Fidelity XLPS2 twin mono block phono stage into a WAD Pre–11 valve pre amp coupled to a Musical Fidelity A3.2cr power amp and finally Ruark Prelude ‘speakers and it sounds wonderfully dynamic and clear. As a double check I have also listened to this through my Sennheiser HD 565 Ovation headphones linked to a Musical Fidelity X-Cans V2 valve headphone amp and there is the some soft surface noise throughout although mainly evident in the quieter parts of the recording.

It is worth bearing in mind that other systems may not reveal the same level of hi-fi sound, especially concerning the reproduction of any surface noise.

Sleeve:         Excellent

Some very slight ring-wear on the front of the sleeve. Little appreciable “feathering” on the edges and the spine is still strong and the lettering is intact. There is no writing or sticker marks on any of the sleeve surfaces. The lamination on the front is still intact and strong with no lifting of the laminate. The rear of the sleeve also has slight ring-wear but the flip back edges are all intact. It has the song title "DR. ROBERT" on the sleeve.

It bears the text "Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London. PMC 7009 PCS 7009" on the flip back bottom right edge.

Inner sleeve:          Excellent

This is the original plain paper inner sleeve and shows little sign of age discolouration and the only creasing is at each corner where the inner sleeve has been taken in and out of the outer sleeve. This has a slit of about 3cms down one side. It bears the text " PATENTS APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" at the base of one side.

Labels:                  Excellent

Both labels are clean and bright with no marks or writing. There is some evidence of wear to the spindle hole itself where some of the black print has worn away. The label has the PARLOPHONE text in yellow and beneath this "SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS. SEE PRICE LISTS". It has the song title "DR. ROBERT" on label. All this should be evident from the photographs.

This record has been visually and play graded as accurately as possible using the Record Collector's grading system (please see below) with an added + where the condition is somewhere between two grades.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records listed as un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have some slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.
