Skip this vinyl by everybody? The tracks "Andruic" and "Primer Encuentro Latino-Americano" skips.   bratfordlad Mar 25, 2013 Hate to say this as a bit of a vinyl freak but Sei Es Drum could really do with a CD issue for lazy lumps like myself who like lying on their bed in a blissed state listening to minimal masterpieces such as this laddie chucks out in his sleep! Yeah, fuck six separate sides of vinyl, breaks the journey up too much man. Like a sublime cruise down the coolest autobahn in the world but with five (count 'em) awful, tedious Little Chef interludes, greasy truckers arse, bad coffee, overpriced midget gems and scowling feral kids = no thanks! x Love you Villababes, make my dreams come alive yo!   blizt Jan 04, 2013 edited 6 months ago

The above is a locked groove that is built into my copy of Andruic. It really drives me insane. The strange thing is that on somedays, the record plays through fine. Then suddently it begins skipping again and I have to plow through the groove backwards with dangerous amounts of pressure on the stylus to correct it.

From a musical perspective, the best word to describe this release is moody. The tracks are sketchy and a bit cracked out. Just when you feel like the songs have tripped over their own two feet, the groove comes back and realigns everything in your mind. This is a good release to own because there's noone else making music this twisted right now. Keep it in your box and pull it out when you're feeling like something different.   Peak Mar 18, 2008
Well, there's a lot of pro & contra goin' on for this release.
I have to put myself in the pro corner on this one. I've always liked Villalobos' reduced minimal tracks he's released over the years. I'm not equally excited about all tracks on this doubler but I've played them almost all and they do the trick.
The one that stands out for me on this release has to be 'Druic'.

Mr Villalobos is at it again: polarising views with his latest musical outing, eliciting discussions on whether he is the future or demise of "minimal". Seriously, who cares? Not the genius himself. His self-unawareness and indifference shines through these seven quirky, almost demented, tracks that push "minimal" to the shorelines of experimentation.

Threading the pieces together is the commonality of latin-flavoured vocals, but ironically the vocals themselves thwart our efforts to pigeon-hole or understand. They vary from snippets of puzzling conversation (tracks 1, 5) to mantric refrains (tracks 3, 5, 6), to lazy and deliberate off-key singing. Phrases are chopped and trippy words tweaked into dub-like incoherence. The beats and basslines shuffle along, but occasionally break down into glitches and uneven tempos. Percussive tools such as hi-hats and side drums provide a strong counterpoint to the madness, but can also disappear all of a sudden, further unravelling and stripping down the tracks into shreds of barely-together music. What dope!

Music people, you want "minimal"? You got it right here. If you feel like locking yourself up in a mental asylum after (because you keep hearing a guy rapping “Baila Sin Petit” or a woman yelling “Chicken!” or "The goose is cooked!" in your head), then the tracks did their job beautifully. But if you want your minimal without an untidy and gritty side of evolving experimentalism, then maybe minimal isn’t, and never was, for you.

Zustand/Condition: 7++/ 10 very good - 8/ 10 near mint !!!

New & Sealed: Absolut perfekt - wurde niemals abgespielt und ist möglicherweise noch versiegelt.Wir bewerten nie gebrauchte Lp's mit Mint - höchstens Mint- (Near Mint)

Near Mint: Eine fast perfekte Schallplatte. Die Schallplatte zeigt keinerlei Gebrauchsspuren. Eine Single Hülle darf wirklich nur minimalste Gebrauchsspuren haben und eine Lp Hülle darf keine abgestossenen Ecken, Falten oder ähnliche Mängel vorweisen. Plattencover mit cut-out Löchern gibt es hier ebenfalls nicht. Gleiches gilt für Beilagen wie Poster, Textblätter oder ähnliches. Im Prinzip soll eine Near Mint Schallplatte aussehen als ob sie gerade neu im Plattenladen gekauft wurde und zuhause die Folie entfernt wurde.

Very Good+: Hat erkennbare Gebrauchspuren, wurde aber vom Vorbesitzer gut gepflegt. Die Plattenoberfläche kann minimale Abnutzungserscheinungen (durch Abspielen), die aber den Hörgenuss nicht beeinträchtigen, vorweisen. Leichte Wölbungen die das Abspielen nicht beeinträchtigen sind in Ordnung. Das Label darf leichte (nicht wirklich auffällige) Verfärbungen haben. Das Mittelloch sollte nicht geweitet sein. Single-Bild-Hüllen und Lp-Innenhüllen dürfen leichte Gebrauchsspuren haben. Lp Album-Hüllen dürfen leichte Gebrauchspuren haben und auch ein cut-out Loch ist vertretbar. Im grossen und ganzen, ist eine very good+ Schallplatte für fast alle Sammler ein sehr guter und sammlungswürdiger Zustand.

Very Good: Viele der Mängel einer VG+ Platte, treten hier verstärkt auf. Leichtes Rauschen kann beim Abspielen auftreten, besonders in ruhigen Passagen und während des Intros, welches die Musik aber nicht 'überpowert'. Leichte Rillenabnutzung kann vorhanden sein ebenso wie leichte Kratzer (welche man mit dem Fingernagel spüren kann) die man auch beim Abspielen hören kann. Auf den Labels können Mängel wie Aufkleber oder Beschriftungen auftauchen. Das gleiche gilt auch für LP Albumcover und auch Single Picturehüllen. Wie auch immer die Schallplatte kann 2 oder 3 dieser Mängel haben, nicht aber alle!

Good: Good heisst nicht 'schlecht'! Eine Platte im Zustand Good wird ohne hängenzubleiben durchlaufen, aber Sie wird beträchtliches Rauschen haben, einige Kratzer und deutlich sichtbare Abnutzungserscheinungen. Album Cover und Single Picturehüllen sind aufgestossen und haben geknickte Ecken. Aufkleber, Beschriftungen und ähnliches breiten sich auf demselbigen aus. Wenn es nicht wirklich rar ist, wartet man lieber auf einen besseren Zustand - wenn man aber schon ewig danach sucht und der Preis stimmt sollte man die Chance nutzen.

Poor, Fair: Die Platte ist voller Kratzer, ziemlich verbogen, und wird nicht durchlaufen ohne hängen zu bleiben. Das Album Cover hat Wasserschaden, alle Kanten sind durchstossen und ist voll von Gekritzel und Aufklebern. Nicht sammelwürdig, ausser es handelt sich um absolute Top Raritäten!

New & Sealed Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all.
Near Mint (NM or M-) A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly)that no record is ever truly perfect. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. Near Mint is the highest price listed in all Goldmine price guides. Anything that exceeds this grade, in the opinion of both buyer and seller, is worth significantly more than the highest Goldmine book value.

Very Good Plus Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

Very Good Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price. This, not the Near Mint price, should be your guide when determining how much a record is worth, as that is the price a dealer will normally pay you for a Near Mint record.

Good, Good Plus Generally worth 10-15 percent of the Near Mint value. Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear (on a styrene record, the groove will be starting to turn white). A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. It is a common item, you'll probably find another copy in better shape eventually. Pass it up. But, if it's something you have been seeking for years, and the price is right, get it...but keep looking to upgrade.

Poor, Fair Generally worth 0-5 percent of the Near Mint price. The record is cracked, badly warped, and won't play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeve is water damaged, split on all three seams and heavily marred by wear and writing. The LP cover barely keeps the LP inside it. Inner sleeves are fully seam split, crinkled, and written upon. Except for impossibly rare records otherwise unattainable, records in this condition should be bought or sold for no more than a few cents each.
