Release dates: 16th June 1997 – 2nd March 1988.
Rarity: extremely rare and complete set of the four singles that came off the classic ‘Urban Hymns’ album. What makes these rarer is that they have all been and remain un-played at around twenty years of age!
Condition: please note the following:
Brown mailer: incredibly soft and delicate card, this copy is harshly graded as excellent minus (-) condition, but check out my quality images as nothing is hidden! Moderate creasing around the rear ‘flap’ and minor wear, minor creasing and dinks on the corner points. This mailer was issued with the ‘Sonnet’ single. Front and rear panels are excellent and very flat, with minimal grubbiness. I gave up trying to secure the flap, as it was clear all this was going to lead to was a ripped mailer!
Outer sleeves: I have provided mainly pictures of this part of the listing, as these ultra-delicate card single sleeves are so fragile! I removed the inner sleeves from day one (all were purchased day of release I was that crazy about this band), so none have splits or tears, but somehow in a number of houses moves etc. they do have minor corner dinks, so please read on:
‘Sonnet’ cover: one tiny dink top left hand sleeve corner, one small dink top right-hand corner only. Graded as excellent condition.
‘Lucky Man’ cover: small crease and dink in left hand top corner only. Graded as excellent condition.
‘The Drugs Don’t Work’: one small crease and dink in the bottom left-hand corner only. Graded as excellent condition.
‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’: one small crease and dink in the top left-hand corner only. Graded as excellent condition.
Inner die-cut unlined white sleeves: un-used from day one, and in excellent plus (+) condition and stunning!
Vinyl’s: are in stunning condition with a deep shine, and a tiny amount of pressing ‘swarf’ around the spindle holes, evidencing a lack of plays. Surfaces are superb and unmarked. I have looked set these vinyl’s in detail under both natural and fluorescent lighting, and a minimum of excellent plus (+) condition. (I personally struggle to grade twenty-four-year-old vinyl’s that is unwrapped as ‘mint’ or ‘like new’ condition, so believe me excellent plus condition is the highest grading I would give in these circumstances!).
Handled with care and quickly transposed it into a soft, thick plastic protective cover.
