Description
For sale is Robert Palmer's Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley, released in 1974 on Island Records. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1-B/1-B, followed by "Sterling". This signifies that an early stamper was used on this first pressing and was mastered at Sterling Sounds, N.Y.C.. These are all hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering and superior sound quality, sought after by collectors and music lovers. I bought this new, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put this album into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the record. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded VG+ because of ring wear, edge wear, stress cracks along the spine and corner blunting. The spine has color loss from these cracks and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as NM- because of one slight surface scratch on the second side that did not affect playback. I'm play grading this record as Near Mint. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life left to it. This is the best copy of this rare album that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
