Description
Here is a scarce one! Not too many of these kicking around!
Roberta Dudley is accompanied by Kid Ory's Sunshinne Orchestra
(sic) and sings "Krooked Blues" and "When You're Alone Blues" on
Sunshine 3001.
Mutt Carey is on cornet, Ory on trombone, Dink Johnson clarinet,
Fred Washington piano, Ed Garland string bass, with Ben Borders
playing drums.
This, of course is the rare Sunshine label pasted over the Nordskog
label, and marketed by the Spikes Brothers' Phonograph Company,
probably the earliest known recording of trombonist Kid Ory.
Both sides were recorded in Los Angeles in June of 1922.
The record is in E- to V+ condition. There are a couple of heavy
grooves which make a little crackling and a few isolated ticks, all of
which pass fine with no jumps or hangs. Needle run on the B side
label.
This, from my own collection is the only one that I have ever seen.
I'm sure hoping that it sells higher, but as always, my starting bid is
$8.99 and no reserve!
