Description
Here we have a very rare and original example of English indie pop history from 1987.
This poster is an original 1987 Sheffield Leadmill promotional display poster for Robin Hitchcock & The Egyptians. I used to work at the Leadmill which is how I acquired the poster.
The poster is collectable not only due to it's rarity but also because it was designed by The Leadmill's resident poster artist Martin F Bedford. Martin's posters (aside of links to well know artists) are highly collectable in their own right and sell for hundreds of pounds. An image of this poster can be found in Martin's first book (Up Against The Wall). The extra colour in the book's image was added later for the benefit of the book reader. You are looking at the original version as it was produced for promotion in my photo - please see the images.
As the poster was produced only in very small numbers and for fly poster display around Sheffield, I know very few will have survived. I know this as I also used to help do the fly postering at The Leadmill as one of my duties.
This poster measures 51 cm X 76 cm. There is a Martin Bedford signature near the bottom right as part of the design.
Now 30 years old, the poster is in at least good condition. There is a small tear at the top right. There are no folds. Please use the zoom function to examine the poster.
I have priced the poster based on it's rarity, it's general good condition, it being an original Martin F Bedford as well as research into the auction sale of the same poster during the last three decades of which I can find NONE.
The poster deserves to be properly framed and hung so more people can see what this historic poster actually looked like 'in the flesh'. I currently do not have the space to do this but I am hoping someone out there is able to properly host this unique item.
