BACKGROUND TO THIS RECORD:

The mega rare rockabilly classic from Robin Luke. I sold a copy on 26th Sept 2008(the feedback on that sale is on the 1st page of my feedback reports). Unlike the other, which I was not sure of the origin, this is definitely US in origin with the multi-coloured Dot logo on a black background. It has no centre. A collector friend who was watching my items sold brought it to me to assist him in selling it. Needless to say, I put it through my usual cleaning and listening and generally its better than the one I sold.

GRADING RESULTS:

I would rate the front cover as between a strong VG++ to Excellent . Though there are no other writings or tears on the cover, there is a 2 inch seam split on  the bottom right hand edge which have been mended. There is also some slight wear on the top left hand side though it has not split. The spine is  intact. The back is generally clean though there is some slight age discolouration at some spots. I have provided a picture of the back and labels as well. If anyone requires additional closeups please message me.

Side 1 of the vinyl looks Mint  with no visible surface scratches. Side 2 looks Excellent with a some faint surface scratches which did not affect play. There are also 4 clean lines of about half an inch each running perpendicular to the centre on Side 2. It looked more like indentations and looks more like a factory defect. It did not affect play though. The vinyl maintains it lustre and is mirror like. Tracking at 1.7g on my Naim Aro/Lyra Helikon SL cartridge , generally both sides played a strong Excellent to Near Mint though there was some slight surface noise in the beginning on Side 2.

I have started the bids slightly lower than the second highest bidder.

How I Clean and  Grade my Records

Cleaning: Cleaning is usually done on a Loricraft PRC 4 cleaning machine and/or VPI 17.5 using the US made Walker Audio 3 step process.

Playback Equipment: Playback is through a Linn LP12 turntable/Armeggedon/Naim Aro tonearm/Linn Troika cartridge and through a brace of active Naim 250s/135s into Naim DBL speakers. For 45s I use a second Linn/Lingo/Aro/Lyra Helikon SL.

I use both Goldmine and Rare Record Price Guide grading system as a guide and came up with the following:

·       Mint  I only use this for sealed items. The record is virtually unplayed and is in a brand new condition. Cover is pristine. Up till now, I have never used this grading and, chances are, never will, due to my conservative nature in matters of record grading.

·       Near Mint  Very little or negligible flaws. Faint lines or very faint creasing  on laminated covers visible under a strong light is acceptable but nothing serious. Records which show some signs of having been played such as very faint spindle marks are allowed but there should be no lessening in sound quality. .

·       Excellent   Item obviously played, though not often, and enjoyed with some slight noise. The record should be nice and shiny but may have a few light marks which should not intrude on play. Slight wear on cover is acceptable.

·         Very Good Many more imperfections which are noticeable but not obtrusive. The record has been played several times but there should be no major deterioration in sound quality despite some noticeable surface marks and light scratches. Normal wear and tear or writings on the cover  is acceptable but there should not be any major tears.

I do not offer any records below Very Good  unless its extremely rare.
