Here we have an ORIGINAL copy of The Rock Shop’s sole album on the Lee-Mo label from 1968. This was featured in Hans Pokora’s 1001 Record Collector Dreams (where it was rated four discs out of six for rarity) and the Acid Archives books and was reissued by the Dionysus/Bacchus folks some years back. The album has a couple of nice folk-rock/garage cuts and is a good representation of what a mid-level Sunset Strip club band sounded like in the late 1960s.

The sleeve is a very tidy VG++, with some corner dings and 2" bottom seam split. The disc surface looks even cleaner, but there is a SIGNIFICANT FLAW. There appears to be heat damage – not a warp, but the disc isn’t quite circular! I tried enlarging the spindle hole and moving it around on the turntable, but no luck. The first track on each side skips, and there’s a "whooshing noise" you can hear in the background, though it gets less pronounced as the disc progresses.

Given the disc condition, I don’t expect much, but it’s gotta be worth something – if only for the liner notes extolling the remarkable Mr. Lee – ex-Marine/hairdresser/rock ‘n’ roll entrepreneur extraordinaire.
