Description
Here is a rockabilly single by Ray Harris titled, "Come On Little Mama" on Sun 254. Condition is M -. This copy is stamped "SAMPLE" (see photo) and has a radio station sticker on the label on the flip side as well as some writing. There is also a radio station catalog # written in the dead wax in grease pencil..."CW-1417" (which I believe can be removed). The copies of Sun singles stamped "SAMPLE" are very scarce. This single also comes with an original Sun sleeve. This classic guitar rockabilly single can be heard on the Rockin' Country Style website at http://rcs.law.emory.edu/rcs/index.htm. Postage/insurance is $5.00 in the U.S. Overseas airmail is $6.00 and if you want your package to be sent with registration then include an additional $8.00. I accept money orders, IMO's, and Paypal. I've had a few questions about the Ray Harris 45. This copy does not have the overpowering hiss common to this release. It has very slight hiss, but not the level that I've heard on this record from other copies that I've had in the past. In fact, this is probably the best sounding copy that I've heard to date (no need to try this one out with a 78 needle). As regards the thickness, I'd say that it's about average. It doesn't really seem to be thin, nor is it as thick as some Sun pressings. It's pressed on vinyl and not on styrene. My guess is that this one came off the stampers fairly early as it has the word "SAMPLE" on it and these were early DJ versions that were sent out to radio stations. The flip has a small sticker at the top of the label with "CW-1417" on it, which matches the grease pencil marking in the dead wax. This is most likely a catalog # for the station's use, "CW" meaning Country & Western. Also, on the flip side label someone wrote "NG" to each side of the song title and crossed through the song title, "Where'd You Stay Last Night" (see added photo).
