Description
Here we have a rockabilly classic from the historic Sun Studios in Memphis - 1957's Your Honey Love/Cindy Lou, Sun # 282, by Dick Penner. This record has all the stuff you are looking for, when you are looking for that great Sun sound - raw, full of passion, stripped down, and to the brim and overflowing with great guitar and vocal sounds.
Both sides of this single are great - Penner's voice is in top form, and the guitar playing is wonderfully walking all over the place. There's a smoking guitar solo on each side - this is the pure, unadulterated music any rockabilly cat or kitten truly craves. It's a must have!
This one, is showing its age for sure - the label is slightly beat-up/worn and has a little writing on it, so VG. It's not torn or damaged otherwise...see the pix for more detail.
The wax is also pretty worn - it is like a lot of Sun singles I have found, in that the play-wear of the vinyl mixes into the ambient noise of the early-mid 50s Sun recordings...so there is definitely some crackle.pop and hiss underlying it all. For me, it doesn't detract a bit from enjoying playing this classic - but people have different tolerations that way for sure, so be aware.
Neither side skips, but there is a fair amount of noise, and as such I would rate it as a G+...the beat-up state of the record adds some charm and warmth to it, to me. This is a record that was loved on, and it still has much more to give...I have played it many times while considering listing it. This was a very tough call, as it is a GREAT rockabilly record - so good luck bidding!
