Artist:   NATHAN and The SPARKS  

Titles:   Don’t Say No / My Dream Came True

Label:   SWALLOW (Ville Platte, Louisiana)  # 45-104.  Label is light blue with black text.   

Year:   1959? 

Background:   Small Louisiana music label founded by former radio disc jocky Floyd Soileau, in 1959.  Several years earlier Soileau left his deejay position to establish Floyd's Record Shop and Flat Town Music Company in 1956 and 1957 respectively.  

His first recordings were pressed in Nashville and released as 78s and 45s in 1957. Word of his regional record label spread and Soileau was soon approached by several local Cajun musicians, including Aldus Roger, Austin Pitre, Adam Hebert, and Lawrence Walker, about recording their songs.

In 1958, Soileau dissolved his earlier record labels and founded two new labels, Swallow (a play on the pronunciation of his last name) and JIN (named for his soon-to-be-wife Jinver).  On the early recordings on the Swallow and Jin Record labels, there was no distinction between genres of music.  Soileau released Cajun French music and south Louisiana rock n' roll (later termed Swamp Pop) on both record labels.

Condition:   Condition is beautiful NM- with 100% of original gloss.  Has been played a very small number of times, perhaps once or twice, and handled with care.  Vinyl is flawless.  Fidelity is superb.  Labels are clean.  This one is rare in any condition – but this copy is superb.  Winning bidder will be quite pleased.

NOTE:  I found a couple references to this single on an internet web site attempting to document the discography of Swallow Records, but could find no reported sales on popsike or ebay, nor does it appear in my rockabilly price guide.
