Rocket 88 Chess Jackie Brenston & Delta Cats Ike Turner - Rock & Roll 78 Record
Up for bid is a 78 RPM record of "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats, which was a band actually led by a young Ike Turner. This is unique because many credit the song as the "first Rock and Roll record."
The record, which was a recent attic find in a box of other records, appears to be in very good condition. I tested it and it played in its entirety with no skips or issues. There is certainly visual wear to the surface of the record, so please see photos for more details. The labels have a light pink hue, which I think should be more white compared with other examples of this record.
There are no cracks or chips anywhere on the record.
