Description:
Rod McKuen-Joanna Soundtrack (SCARCE 1968 Australian pressing 12” Vinyl LP Album. Terrific rare soundtrack of the swinging 60s movie that gave America the director of "Myra Breckinridge"!
"Joanna" is a psychedelic romp through London in the swinging 60s as seen through the eyes and adventures of the waif-like/helium-voiced heroine Genevieve Waite. This LP is one of the few scores pop poet Rod McKuen ever composed for the screen.
A pastiche of 30's period ditties like the bouncy title tune and lovely melodies, this soundtrack is a rare, must-have and undiscovered joy.
Songs: "When am I ever going home?", "Run to Me, Fly to Me" and "I'll Catch the Sun" are among McKuen's best. McKuen performs a couple of songs and even the film's director Micheal Sarne (the notorious director of "Myra Breckinridge" and one time pop singer and star of "Seaside Swingers" ) can be heard to great effect on the wonderful "Ain't You Glad You're Livin' Joe?" – LP housed in flip-back picture sleeve in near mint condition - 20th Century Fox Australia STL 933,152
