Description
This is a scarce and desirable original white label promotional copy of Sixto “Rod Riguez” Rodriguez’s debut release on Impact Records from 1967.
Rodriguez (1942-2023) was a Detroit singer-songwriter-guitarist of Mexican heritage who developed an international following in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia which far exceeded his initial popularity in the United States.
Full disclosure: This is not the perfect copy of this highly sought record, yet it still plays well. There are no skips. There is a tiny nick/chip in the styrene at the initial run-in groove. It does not impact the run-in groove or the songs on either side (see photos). There is some label wear including discoloration. The record was cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner to remove any dirt or debris. “I’ll Slip Away” plays about VG and the B-Side, “You’d Like To Admit It” is very similar. Best way to judge is to hear it for yourself….
