Rod Stewart - "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down" VERY FIRST UK PRESS!!! VERTIGO SWIRL!
Up for sale is this beautiful copy of Rod Stewart's debut album Rod Stewart - "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down". This is a genuine VERY FIRST UK PRESSING on the legendary VERTIGO SWIRL label! This record is very hard to find, and many people don't even know this version exists!!! This is the very first UK VERTIGO SWIRL LABEL design, with the "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" credit, indicating this is a first press!!! HOWEVER, most pressings come in a matte non laminated gatefold sleeve with a 5mm thick spine BUT THIS VERSION COMES IN THE VERY FIRST SLEEVE DESIGN, WITH A THIN SPINE AND WITH THE RECORD IN THE "WRONG" SIDE OF THE GATEFOLD (on the left side, with normal gatefolds the record is on the right side of the gatefold). THIS IS A VERY RARE FIRST VERSION OF THIS RECORD YOU GARDLY EVER FIND!!!!!! VERY RARE!!!!
RECORD: VG+ The record is visually in EXCELLENT (EX) condition! The vinyl has kept almost all of its original shine and has only very minor tiny hairlines because of sleeve removal, which are visible under a very strong light. There is also one minor scratch on side B, which causes some very minor clicks and which is NEARLY INAUDIBLE!!!! Other than this, there are no other scratches, only the already mentioned hairlines. As a way of precaution, I will grade the record as VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)! The record plays very nicely through, without any skips or repeats. The sound is still very clear and crisp and there is only minor surface noise in the quieter parts!!!!!. The playback is more near EXCELLENT (EX) than VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+). The labels are in NEAR MINT (NM) condition and are not damaged.
COVER: EX The cover of the album is in EXCELLENT (EX) condition! There is only some very minor edge wear and some minor wear on the back of the sleeve, but apart from these minor issues, the cover is actually in NEAR MINT (NM) condition. As mentioned above, this is THE VERY FIRST SLEEVE DESIGN!!!!! WHICH INDICATES THIS IS A VERY FIRST PRESSING!!!!! MEGA RARE!!
The original swirl inner sleeve is present and is in NEAR MINT (NM) condition!! There is no date code on the sleeve, which also indicates this is a VERY FIRST ISSUE!!
Overall, this is a BEAUTIFULL and PERFECTLY PLAYING copy of this MEGA RARE and HARD TO COME BY copy of this classic record!!!
