To celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Dark Side Of The Moon", Roger Waters announces the release of his tribute to the original album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux".
Waters says: "When we recorded the stripped-down Lockdown Sessions songs, the 50th anniversary of the release of 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' was looming on the horizon. It occurred to me that 'The Dark Side Of The Moon" might well be a suitable candidate for a similar rework, partly as an homage to the original work, but also to re-address the political and emotional message of the whole album. I discussed it with Gus and Sean, and when we stopped laughing and yelling at each other "You must be ****ing mad", we decided to do it. It turned out really great and I can't wait for everyone to see it hear. It is not a question of replacing the original, which is obviously irreplaceable. But it is a way for the man of seventy-nine to look at the fifty years that have passed in the eyes of the man of twenty-nine years old and to say, to quote one of my poems about my father, "We did our best, we kept his trust, our father would have been proud of us." It's also a way for me to honor a recording that Nick, Rick, Dave and I have every reason to be proud of.
As a founding member, lyricist and principal composer of Pink Floyd during the group's most influential and creative period, Roger Waters achieved worldwide success and fame.
Waters co-founded Pink Floyd in the mid-1960s. Under Waters' leadership, Pink Floyd produced a series of hit albums during the 1970s, the most successful and iconic of which was "The Dark Side Of The Moon », “Wish You Were Here”, “Animals” and “The Wall”. Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and is now one of the most popular solo artists in the world.
