ROKY ERICKSON AND THE ALIENS - Weird Tales (Germany - Orb SR 984) 1982, red vinyl! M-/M-
Ultra rare original first pressing LP from 1982! There were only 200 numbered copies of this LP made in 1982.
This is #192 of 200
It comes with a super cool looking gatefold type of 12" cover insert that was printed on both sides. With detailed linernotes in form of a reprint of the Roky Erickson story/interview from John Platt's Comstock Lode (which by the way is uncredited on the cover for some unknown reasons, but as an old Roky Erickson fan and Comstock Lodge reader, I can guarantee that this interview hails from an early issue of Comstock Lode!) The forewords by Doug Hanners of Not Fade Away, and Larry Sepulvado of Mother Magazine (1968) were credited correctly on the cover. It also contains the full Spades/Lingsmen/Thirteenth Floor Elevators discography.
The frontcover has Roky pictured. On the inside of the gatefold back cover you get a small live photo of The 13th Floor Elevators from 1966 which was credited to George Craig (as seen in Not Fade Away issue #1), along with photos of the rare Contact Single, and the Easter Everywhere LP front cover. The cover is still stored inside it's original protective PVC plastic outer sleeve.
This is one of the nicest looking live LPs that I've ever came across. It looks much better in reality than in the photos below.
I've bought this LP back in 1982 while it was just issued, and so I can guarantee that this is the absolute first pressing of it. I remember that this record was sold out almost immediately at all places, and that it was already virtually impossible to get a copy of it back then, which is no wonder with only 200 copies made! This LP was reissued as a picture disc in the mid 80s.
