The Rolling Stones, 1964 LP, Decca LK 4605 in South Africa cover.
This is a decent example of the LP –The Rolling Stones. It was released on the Decca label in 1964 – LK 4605. The a-side Matrix Number is XARL 6271-1A and the b-side is XARL 6272-3A. The record is in around VG+ condition.I purchased a group of LPs from the original owner who was in the Royal Navy and was stationed in the country in the mid-1960s. He had an interesting mix of British, American and South African LPs (although many were not really of interest, musically). This LP is in the cover (with the same catalogue number) that was issued in South Africa. It is not laminated but is made of different – just about shiny – card, unlike UK covers. I have to assume that somehow the LP was mixed up with another example and that somewhere a South African LP is in a UK cover? (Unless by chance some UK LPs were put into covers that were printed locally, as I have come across a few times with some LPS that were sold in Europe). On the back there is a ‘flash’ that promises four fantastic glossy photographs of the Rolling Stones. These of course are not here! The cover has some light ring-wear and minor creasing but no rips, scribbles, stickers or grazes and it still grades as around VG+.
