The ROLLING STONES

AFTERMATH

SKL 4786

RARE stereo pressing, 1966 ,UK made, 14 track, Blue/silver, ffss wide band ,Decca label format! 1st issue, front laminated, pinched spine, picture sleeve!!!!

Impossible early stereo release. Impossible to locate as monos were the main projection of that era. There was little demand for stereo recordings so only a handful were produced. Phenomenal collectors’ item !This was a historic album in many ways. It was the first Stones album to be released in stereo. It was the first album to be recorded entirely in U.S..And the first album to consist of all Jagger/Richards material.

UK STEREO PRESSING of this monumental Stones classic!!

Stunning visual .MIRROR LIKE SHEEN !Thick cut , heavy weight MONSTER slab!! T O P audio !Virtually UN marked against ordinary light ! Complete with original inner sleeve in very clean/fresh condition.

Dark navy blue, unboxed stereo label format with FFSS band logo

1W /5W matrix -very early matrices with mother stampers 1  /  1   on each side of the vinyl !!! Other stampers at 3 o clock are the inverted V,(only found on the very first pressings)  and CC stampers!!! The very rare tax code JT is printed on both sides of the vinyl run offs ! Cut from the master recording so very difficult to locate especially in this sensational condition.

Vinyl

Awesome mirror like sheen, with beautiful playing surfaces . Excellent+ visual appearance with only ultra faint sleeve removal marks , caused by sleeve brushing the surfaces. Quite a stunning visual appearance, with highly polished surfaces . Best I have seen from a Stones stereo classic. Will observe a tiny scratch if angled against a bright light which is hardly visible, located S1,final track and is the only flaw . A very lightly played vinyl .Unbelievable condition for a 43 year old vinyl! See pics for visual delights!

1st issue, single sleeve . The stereo cover is quite different from its mono variation .The lamination on the stereo sleeves is much thicker and glossier ,with an ultra smooth finish. Beautiful exhibit of one of the hardest records to track down. Clarifoil credits. Robert Stace manufactured .Lamination near perfect on front face. No lifting, rips nor tears. Earliest sleeve with clipped spine clearly showing title . A couple of corner scuffs .Reverse very clean, with hardly any discoloration. Minimal feathering , if any, to the opening edge.   Very lightly handled . Remarkable sleeve with the lightest of ring wear ,visible if angled 45 degrees. At least excellent/+ , have not seen better!

Complete with original inner sleeve in excellent condition. Equipment/record care advice in near perfect format. Just some natural age discoloration/yellowing through ageing process .Poly lining intact and no rips, nor tears . Superb exhibit !

Labels

Early stereo navy blue, unboxed Decca labels , a pleasure to view. A light spindle trace visible, otherwise near perfect. No discoloration, lifting or peeling . Beautifully clean, freshly pressed appearance. Will not find better than this !

Audio

Sensational channels. These stereo records were very heavily played, resulting in massive groove wear and surface damage. However, these channels are superb. Hardly any crackles/surface noise detected. Channels very clear and delivers a very delicate sound production. There is still some dust lifting from the grooves, where the vinyl has lain dormant for many, many years, so even more improvement would be expected. Phenomenal exhibit .

Unbelievable stereophonic tones delivered with a pinpoint precision and a wide range of dynamic sound! The soft lyrics of Lady Jane are heard with a delicate precision ! In contrast, the cacophonous ,pounding beat of the drums from Under My Thumb, beat right through you. Absolutely incredible aural delivery.

The different melodic tones and instrumentation from the last track of side 1 is absolutely remarkable. Jagger’s heavy breathing and repetitive rhythmic vocals fused with the continuous banter of percussion, guitar strings and drum beats is quite sensational from these first pressed audio channels. An amazing blend of intricate melodies heard with phenomenal accuracy with no distortion, so rare to locate on these very first pressings.

At least excellent but considerably better in most parts ! I kid you not. Not over graded in any way I can assure you! The only flaw, heard during a R&B stomp, is the tiny scratch which is located S1,final track and produces the faintest of ticks and hardly affects the music presentation. Clear channels for most of play.

A vintage Stones stereo release in this condition is almost unheard of. So, so rare and extremely scarce to locate in this very carefully handled condition! One for the serious vinyl enthusiast .
