Description
A chance to bid for an extremely rare 1965 first Edition Decca Germany release compiled from their early 60s singles and EP tracks.It's a 10 inch lp with Wine Red & Gold oval labels (later 60s issue was a boxed label) and was released before any 'Greatest Hits' comps in either Britain or the USA.Not that i've seen many copies but the ones that i've seen are in really poor condition.This includes copies described on record buying sites like Discogs.Copies have been known to go for a tidy sum.This copy isn't mint by any means but give or take the odd pop here and there and some sporadic background crackle it sounds more than acceptable for a 58 year old lp that has been enjoyed but not trashed.I playtest all vinyl on a beautiful wooden 1976 Sony PS-1700 deck with an Audio Technica VMN95ML Microline stylus which is very revealing of sound quality crackles pops etc.There are marks but there is no sustained crackle anywhere on playback and the punchy Mono sound is the way to listen to these classics.See pictures for details of record and the sleeve.One thing my camera couldn't reveal is some hazing on the vinyl on side 2..i've read that this can be caused by the inner sleeve in storage but it doesn't affect the sound to my ears.Sleeve is pretty thin card but save for some creasing along the opening edge front & back and a price ticket remova mark on the top right is very decent for this lp.The creases see Charlie Watts photo has been supported on the inside to save further wear by top quality document repair tape.This tape will not yellow with age unlike old school sellotape.As always any questions are more than welcome.Good luck and thanks for popping in 😊
