ROLLING STONES – BEGGAR’S BANQUET
(DECCA AUSTRALIA – MONO LKA 4955 – 1968)
Classic, original Australian 1968 mono pressing of one of the Stones’ most influential albums. The last album featuring the band’s founder (and now floundering genius lead guitarist), Brian Jones, this marked a change in direction for the band after their previous psychedelic workout in late 1967 (Satanic Majesties..) A ‘back to the roots’ record which has much to do with the advancing of Keith Richard’s musical influence on the group…
This album marked the beginning of the Stones’ classic era (1968-1972) where each album released was top notch….
An extremely rare Mono Decca Australia pressing, I have been told that maybe only 200 of these were pressed, given the demand for stereo albums by 1968, and companies were in the process of phasing out Mono releases.
This release utilizes machine stamped UK Decca Mono matrices.

Cover = VG (Gatefold sleeve, unlaminated. Slight creasing and discolouration. Some staining on front. General wear)
Record = VG (Plays closer to VG+. Hairlines, some long light scratches)
Decca labels in excellent condition. Some spindle wear on side 2
OK, so in average condition, plays better and now is extremely rare in this format…..And is an enjoyable listen!
