Description

On offer here is a copy of Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones, released in Mono on the Decca label in 1968, catalogue number LK 4955.

A classic original press Stones album with timeless tracks such as Sympathy For The Devil, Street Fighting Man Stray Cat Blues and No Expectations but all the songs are great.

The laminated gatefold sleeve made by Garrod And Lofthouse is in excellent condition, amazing for an album now approaching it's 48th year. The rear of the cover shows the "Albert Embankment" address for Decca, and has the "Keith Richard" songwriting credit.

The heavyweight vinyl has retained a glossy shine to both sides, and even though there are some light marks and hairlines, this does not affect the audio performance, with the exception of a small feelable scratch on "Dear Doctor" on Side One, which does cause clicks for about half the track, and some light background crackle between the track "Factory Girl" and "Salt Of The Earth" but this disappears once the music starts. There is a slight up and down movement on the turntable on Side One but this is slight and has no effect on tracking, only mentioned for the sake of completeness.

The Red and Silver Decca labels are in excellent condition with some spindle marks, Side One has the "J / T" tax code on the label.

Matrix numbers are XARL 8476 - 6A  and XARL 8477 - 2A.

I played this album through (after cleaning it on my VPI cleaner) at high volume on my system       ( Michell Gyrodek, SME Series IV Arm, Dynavector Moving Coil cartridge, Naim Pre and Twin Mono Power Amps and B & W 800D speakers) and it was really stunning, certainly Excellent,  clicks on Dear Doctor excluded from this grading however.

The record will be sent outside of it's cover in a polythene sleeve, sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners in a heavy duty record mailing envelope, made by Covers 33.

It will be sent within 3 days of receiving payment, by PayPal only please and this is only open to UK bidders, thanks.

Generous postage discounts will be given for multiple purchases, please see my other similar listings.
