Description
The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet
(Decca LK 4955 UK LP 1968)
This is a UK original Mono LP pressing. It has a heavyweight front laminated gatefold sleeve. The sleeve is printed by "Garrod & Lofthouse". It comes with its original generic polythene lined company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has red "unboxed" Decca labels. The matrix numbers (& mother stampers), are as follows:
Side 1: XARL 8476-4A (DM 1)
Side 2: XARL 8477-3A (B 1).
Sadly, this is a heavily played copy. However, it is a serviceable copy. There are no jumps. It is a cheaper alternative to pricey copies in great condition. A rare late 1960's UK "Mono" Rolling Stones LP.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is some mild, moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the spine on some areas. The spine text is not completely legible. There are about 6 light hairline scratch marks on the inner gatefold (see photo). These are mainly quite long. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. There is mild to moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is a 2 cm area of moderate rubbing wear at the centre area of the bottom edge of the rear sleeve. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. Good condition
Vinyl: As stated, this is a heavily played copy. There are moderate to considerable sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can be seen under a strong light. There are about 6 or 7 light hairline surface marks. These measure from 2 cm to 8 cm in length. Overall, Fair+ condition. The labels are in Very Good+ condition & show mild to more moderate spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Good+ to Very Good overall. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate crackle in the background to a varying degree. This is obviously more noticeable in the quieter places. It never overpowers the music. There are no noticeable nasty clicks or pops. As stated, this copy does not jump. Overall, a serviceable audio copy.
