Rolling Stones Debut LP LK 4605 Withdrawn First Press Tell Me 2:52 XARL - 6272-1

Holy grail album for Rolling Stones' collectors. Truly the rarest version of their early albums that can be obtained. The Rolling Stones - Self titled debut album from 1964 LK 4605 with the short 2:52 minute take of Tell Me on side 2 rather than the usual longer 4 minute version.  I understand this was a mistake only present on the first batch of pressing rushed out by Decca in April 1964. Due to demand the pressing plant had not spotted that the take used was a demo take of Tell Me (with Ian Stewart on piano) and so they had to be withdrawn and replaced with the more common pressings with the matrices for side 2 being all 2A-6A instead of 1A!  
A super rare collectable album that rarely turns up for sale. It has the incredibly rare matrix numbers of Side 1 XARL 6271- 2A, Side 2 XARL 6272 - 1A meaning that this LP has the 2.52 version of the song 'Tell Me' instead of the standard version of the song that runs for 4.06. This has the correct A Label  for this pressing. Later copies have side one listing "Mona" as track four instead of " I Need You Baby" as stated on the sleeve. This album definitely plays the shorter version and has the all important side 2 matrix of XARL 6272-1A. 
Probably rarer than the 1A/1A copies which are very rare but do turn up on Ebay surprisingly often but still make big money in any condition (£650-£1020 over the years for VG to EX copies). the 2A/1A seems much rarer and only a handful seem to have come up or been sold. Suspect that even rarer pressing plant error having happened and probably just before the side 2 error was noted and the matrix withdrawn.
This record also has a number of label variations from standard copies. Firstly it has on the top of the label "Made in England . The Decca Record Co Ltd" not just "Made in England". There is no reference to BIEM in box credits on side 2. Side 1 and 2 credits are all on left side and not split across left and right as on usual copies. Finally side 1 credit of Cromwell Music for Honest I do instead of usual Burlington credits.

This is a pretty average copy of this album which is why it is priced below £500. The cover as you can see is Good plus to VG minus only. Creasing, discolouration and a bit of laminate lifting but no tears or significant damage. Clearly, a buyer with a better cover on a common version could easily upgrade the cover cheaply if they wanted.
The vinyl is probably between Good ++ and VG minus. It has clearly been played a lot. The grooves are slightly grey from use and there are lots of small whispy marks and light scuffs on both sides. It plays through well and loud but with some surface noise in between tracks and some distortion and crackle in places. However, no serious clicks, pops, jumps etc so can still be played if needed. However, I suspect this is more about owning the pressing than playing!
Priced fairly to sell given rarity but open to sensible offers through the BIN system.
