Rolling Stones Genuine Original Pass For Glasgow Apollo Concert 11-05-76
The Glasgow Apollo was Scotland's best known and best loved rock venue. The atmosphere there was second to none. Groups would vie with each other to ensure they sold out in order to receive the coveted "Apollo Sold Out" Award. It was also famed for its "bouncing balcony" which looked frightening but was amazing to be on when a crowd was getting into the music.
I was a regular at The Apollo over several years, usually relying on a press pass to get me in. Many a happy evening was spent on the step of the extremely high stage, snapping whoever was playing before retiring to the city's Albany Hotel for any after show party that was going on.
Knowing that the Stones were fairly tight on their security, I didn't get to work the stage during their three day stint at the Apollo. Jan Tomasik, the Apollo's manager, did however give me a free pass to this show - and this is it.
As can clearly be seen, it is folded, creased and foxed with blue-tac stains on the top corners of the reverse.
This isn't just a piece of Stones memorabilia but also Apollo, from a time when venues had a character and ambience that could make a gig.
