The open Decca Stereo releases are extremely difficult to locate these days. One can track down the mono and boxed stereo album releases but this particular issue appears to be very elusive indeed.

It was issued in  mid 1969, two months before Decca changed its label format to a boxed logo. The unboxed Stereo albums were produced in extremely low numbers and are very hard to find especially in this condition  .They were subjected to a seriously limited number release.

This was the Stones last album of the sixties and was released just after Brian Jones death. It is a phenomenal album with an infusion of R&B and rock & roll. And does it work well !

Album sleeve Excellent

Laminated front face with a high glossy sheen . Unstickered sleeve , and the very first Upton printing variant, again becoming harder to locate now!

 Earliest issue with a solid and square spine, clearly showing title . Upton Printing Group with peep hole on reverse . Later issues do not have this aperture. Hardly any discoloration on reverse face and grades a solid excellent. No rips, nor tears. Couple of minor creases. Hardly any feathering to opening edge .  Vivid strong coloration on front face, better than most ! Ultra clean with a fresh feel .

Inner track listing sleeve

 Blue, original  inner sleeve – Excellent- condition .

One minor seam split on one edge and no other damage to report.  Beautiful exhibit with the blacked out Choir credit, who did not wish to be associated with this recording . Hardly any creasing ,just the impression of where the vinyl lay . NO rips/nor tears.

Labels Excellent

Excellent navy blue, open Decca format . Some evidence of play . No damage visible and are fine exhibits of this first issue, stereo release. Just a few spindle lines visible. No crusting. No peeling. No rips. No tears. No hand writing of any kind. Silver text clearly legible and in excellent order.

Vinyl Excellent visual

Thick quality pressing and a heavyweight feel with surfaces , showing some ultra light hairlines/the odd surface mark(the one main surface mark visible in strong light, 0.5 cm square ,located final track S1)and the usual sleeve removal marks, visible if held against a strong light . Visual is excellent, as these marks appear to disappear beneath its deep gloss. Sheen is very distinctive , and highly reflective  and is a pleasure to view. Gorgeous! Shows a lightly played history of this brilliant release.

(((Audio))) At least VG+/Mostly superb excellent delivery

Just recently upgraded to a Project turntable and wow, this audio is out of this world. Absolutely Fantastic!!! PLAYS MOSTLY EXCELLENT for the most of play !!!All channels remain predominantly clear save for the characteristic  low level static, between tracks/opening grooves detected but heard oh so distant ! A phenomenal dynamic range of sound from the stereo perspective . The tinkering of tones and the exquisite layering effect, from this aural delivery, is sensational. So much imagery oozes from this stereo delivery .Tones are delivered exquisitely. For just one moment  there are possibly some indistinct  light ticks/one pop from two tiny scratches ,located track 1+2, side 2 , so dips to vg+ for a second ,but that is that …can find nothing else to fault. Some low level static  may be heard occasionally ,mainly  between tracks and during the quieter parts of the music , but does not interfere with the general music presentation . This is quite normal from these vintage classics as they have been laying dormant for many years, so dust is still lifting from these grooves. Audio will improve with play/cleaning .Absolutely brilliant audio channels and very rare to locate in this condition  . Engineered to the highest quality .

Comes complete with Victor Khan poster. Has been pinned on the wall with consequent damage to corners . Good++ condition. A fine example of a keen rock ‘n roll fan and his beloved poster, placed on a bedroom wall, years ago but lovingly folded away for posterity .
