Description
Rolling Stones MONO Let it Bleed Album + Sticker + Poster - 1969 complete with RARE "Sleeve printed in England".
For sale is an original mono version of this classic album. This vinyl has been owned by my husband from new and it had only been played 2 or 3 times when it was first purchased.
This is borne out by the lack of spindle marks around the centre spindle hole, there is a very faint one on side 2 which does not show up in the photo but can be seen if held at the right angle catching the light. The labels are crisp and bright just as they were when the album was bought.
I know nothing about vinyl condition/grading so asked a local dealer for his assessment. He said it was in very good condition but advised me to describe it as VG+ as excellent meant different things to different people.
There are a couple of light "scuff" marks but he said that this would not detract from the playability of the record as the grooves in old Decca vinyls were very deep.
I hope the photos with the aid of zooming in will highlight the good condition of this vinyl.
COVER
Has the original "Rolling Stones Poster included" sticker on the front cover.
The back cover has the "Clarifoil" note and the RARE "Sleeve Printed in England", the majority of sleeves had "Upton Printing Group" (according to information on the internet).
On the left of the front cover the Clarifoil has lifted slightly in two places resembling elongated air bubbles but is intact.
INNER SLEEVE
This is the red Mono version and in good condition with the uncensored London Bach Choir credit which was blacked out on later copies.
THE POSTER
This poster is not in the same "pristine" condition as others sold on eBay but is definitly a genuine ORIGINAL. There is a pin hole in three corners and a slight tear in the other (see photos)
THE VINYL
As described earlier is in VG+ condition with bright clean labels with only one very faint spindle mark on side 2.
The label is the early unboxed Decca logo
Matrix Marks:-
Side 1. XARL-9363P-1A
Side 2. XARL-9364P-2A
The following information has been gleaned from the internet to give as much detail as possible to enable potential buyers to determine if this item is worth bidding on.
XARL = signifies Mono recording
9363 = Decca file number for master tape
1or2 = running number of the master lacquer made from the master tape
A = is the letter representing the supervising Engineer, in this case Mr Guy Fletcher
Markings on runout groove. Side 1 has the clearest markings:-
At 9 o'clock is the number 1....the number of the Metal Mother used to make stamper, this is the earliest Metal Mother.
At 3 o'clock is the letter U....this is the stamper number and Decca used the word BUCKINGHAM for determining the stamper order therefore B is first U second etc.
At 12 o'clock are the letters JT....this is the VAT code used between Nov 68 to Apr 73.
So the best (earliest) numbering would be XARL-9363P-1A and in runout 1 and B so the vinyl for sale Side 1 would be the second best available. On side 2 the runout looks like 1 and U but is hard to clarify.
