Description

This is the original UK mono press from 1965 with the dark red unboxed Decca grooved labels with the TNR font, the 'KT' Tax Code, the 'Made in England' rim text and the James Upton Ltd front laminated sleeve with the full 'Blindman' text on the reverse of the sleeve. With the earliest 1-A 2-A matrices and 1-CH 1-CC stampers of the very 1st presses....

This is the second Rolling Stones album, released in the UK in January 1965 and initially recorded in London at Regent Sound Studios in September and in the USA at Chess Studios, Chicago and RCA Studios, Hollywood in November 1964. The initial copies came with both laminated flipback and non-flipback sleeves printed by the MacNeill Press & James Upton Ltd, both with the reference to robbing a Blindman on the rear cover. This caused a stir and the covers were soon being pasted over and later were reprinted without this comment. The album was extremely popular and was re-issued throughout the 1960's, but never re-mixed in stereo....

The James Upton Ltd front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and some light laminate rubbing and a couple of small creases on the front cover. The rear cover is slightly  discoloured and has some light storage rubbing. The plain company inner sleeve is intact, discoloured and in VG+ condition. The spine is intact and fully readable.

The record is in visually EX+ condition, with a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines/scuffs and one or two light needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with no evidence of spindle markings on either side.   The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief background noise during the run-in grooves.
Overall, just a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; XARL-6619-1A stamper 1-CH, XARL-6620-2A stamper 1-CC. This is one of the very early copies of the original UK mono issue of this classic 1965 album.
