 Original and very scarce 1st press MONO copy.

This LP formed part of a superbly preserved collection. Bought new at the time of release, the former owner (a librarian, really) was fanatical about looking after his vinyl and this record was only occasionally played on a Linn deck. Please see the other LPs from this collection we are currently selling, all of which are Excellent to Mint.

This record is deleted and not available new on vinyl.

Overall Sleeve Condition : EXCELLENT.

Front cover: Laminated black and white front cover. The laminate sleeve is glossy, with bright, unfaded colours. Very light rubs and tiny creases to the laminate.

Rear cover: Matt rear cover.Very light ringwear, slight foxing fade to bottom right rear, initials and price written in small, neat biro, top edge.

Edges: No rubs, no scuffs, no seam splits.

Corners:  No rubs, no scuffs.

Opening Slit: No scuffs, no rubs, no tears.

Vinyl Condition, Visual:  EXCELLENT.

Very light marks and signs of light use, no serious marks or faults visible.

Vinyl Condition, Audible:  EXCELLENT (NEAR MINT).

Plays superbly. Well preserved and cared for, very minor decrease from the original sound quality. Kept in stunning condition by the previous owner. No skips, no jumps, no sign of heavy play, just a few tiny crackles and very very light background noise in a few isolated places.

Label Condition : EXCELLENT.

Silver on red unboxed wide band Decca label. Tiny owners initials on side 2.

In 1965, the Stones finally proved themselves capable of writing classic rock singles that mined their R&B/blues roots, but updated them into a more guitar-based, thoroughly contemporary context. The first enduring Jagger-Richards classics are here — "The Last Time," its menacing, folky B-side "Play With Fire," ... On the rest of the album, they largely opted for mid-'60s soul covers, Marvin Gaye's "Hitch Hike," Otis Redding's "Cry to Me," and Sam Cooke's "Good Times" being particular standouts. "I'm All Right" (based on a Bo Diddley sound) showed their 1965 sound at its rawest, and there are a couple of fun, though derivative, bluesy originals in "The Spider and the Fly" and "The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man."

UK Record Collector Grading System:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (US version of this term: Near Mint): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (US version of this term: VG++): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (US version of this term: VG): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits etc.
