Satanic Majesties Request

An exceptional exhibit of sixties psychedelia

TXS 103

EARLIEST 1st UK PRESSING with EARLIEST UNCORRECTED MATRICES ! IMPOSSIBLE to locate !!! THICK, chunky vinyl !!!Beautiful, highly polished surfaces ! Earliest 1967 UK Unboxed, grooved Decca blue/silver mono, ear logo label format !1st press, red smoke inner sleeve! Fantastic lenticular gatefold, THE very 1st issue sleeve WITH THE DARKER BLUE VARIATION, printed by R . Stace.

1967 original release TXL 103 RARE MONO recording !!

The MOST important feature of this beautiful Stones classic is that it has the hugely scarce uncorrected matrix endings !!!!! The first pressings of this record had 1P/P1 matrix endings. This was an error that was almost immediately resolved, by adding a tiny diagonal numeric 1 ,after the side matrix ending of 1P .Virtually all 1st pressings have this matrix correction on side one. It is impossible to locate one such as this, that does NOT have this correction. I have never seen one myself and there must only be a handful in existence today. To have found a vinyl with this rare ,uncorrected matrix ,is very exciting for collectors worldwide , especially in this sensational condition.

Superb sky blue Mono, wide ridged label format with ear logo and Ffrr credits . Only a few spindle lines visible on these mega rare labels . Ex+   condition. No damage to report . No rips, nor tears . No graffiti .No spindle wear . Silver text is unfaded. So rare to locate in this condition.

ARL 8126    1 P    Stampers 2 D ?  /  0  II ? K   /T     tax code

ARL 8127   P 1                     2D ?     /    ^ II ?  K / T tax code

K/T tax codes clearly etched into run off grooves.

Red /white inner cloud sleeve reflects a glorious scarlet coloration, completely unfaded with just minor creasing with NO rips or tears on laterals. Minor tear 2cm visible on opening top edge. NO seam splits! ! Excellent- condition . Beautiful deep red visual . So bright and vibrant .

Superb lenticular ,3-D hologram gatefold picture sleeve in excellent/+ condition . A first issue MONO sleeve  .Laminated with a full glossy sheen with a vivid and vibrant coloration again . Truly unbelievable gatefold sleeve . The earliest Mono R. Stace laminated holographic sleeve. Only the very first pressings were issued with this gatefold as no stereo sleeves were issued at this time.

Please also note that the coloration has a much darker blue than later sleeves ! Excellent 3 D picture, placed to perfection on middle of front face, with the animation of the Stones figures operating in excellent style. Almost a perfect hologram and augments the value and the sheer quality of this album cover. Front lamination displays a glossy sheen ,to make this gatefold one of the best ever viewed.

Spine is solid and square clearly showing title .When running ones finger along the spinal column, there are no laminate splits and is smooth to the touch. The Mono TXS 103 box is printed on lower edge of spine to confirm the earliest issue .

NO feathering to opening edge .  Corners nice and pointed, just one or two showing their grey tips . Lamination on outer faces very tight except for a laminate lift on top left corner and on the spinal edge of reverse face . Opens to beautiful, stunning inner faces with psychedelic artistry . Only fault is a slight crinkle effect on right inner face and can only be felt rather than seen. The strong coloration, and unfaded reds and oranges, enthuse an energetic punch when viewed ,with plenty of movement to the voyeur. An extraordinary exhibit !

Running ones fingers across reverse face confirms an exceptional smooth and tight laminated finish, feeling almost new and factory fresh! Excellent+ condition and a pleasure to view . Will not find much better than this . TXL103 printed clearly on reverse face. Later editions had a stickered mono credit covering the stereo print on the reissued mono versions. This album sleeve in itself, is worth a fortune and is sheer investment quality. THE original and the earliest mono 3 D gatefold sleeve. So rare to locate in this excellent/+ condition .

Vinyl

Thick cut , heavy weight pressing and gives a buzz when held. Ultra clean and a pleasure to view . EX /+ visual,  with only the odd  hairline/light surface mark, evidence of play . These marks are quite difficult to pick up owing to the deep gloss of the vinyl . There are a tiny cluster of marks on S2Tr2, if angled against a strong light ,otherwise not much to fault. Fantastic polished sheen reflected from these vinyl surfaces. An excellent exhibit of this monumental first pressing , as this vinyl has been lightly played and very carefully handled. Absolutely amazing for a vintage Stones classic release.

((((AUDIO))))

EXCELLENT/+

Unbelievable tones . A First UK press with that extra loud cut engineering with gives that extra warm punch. The brass instrumentation is heard with a profound depth of sound. Each string on She’s A Rainbow is delivered with a sharp clarity and a razor sharp edge . The harpsichord strings are pure magic, conveyed with a concise definition. The monotone perspective is delivered in sensational style with hardly any surface disturbance. Hardly any crackle/static detected, perhaps just once or twice during the quieter moments, but remains at a distance and does little to affect this superb, excellent delivery. There is still some dust lifting from the grooves where this record has lain dormant for decades! If very fastidious, one can detect a couple of ticks when the stylus passes over the tiny cluster of surface marks S2tr2 , but one really has to listen quite intensely ,beyond the tones, to confirm this slight imperfection on sound. Does very little to affect the music presentation so I shall still insist on a strong excellent grading for this aural delivery .

NO distortion detected , and found so often on these early presses which were heavily played into submission, resulting in massive groove wear and surface damage. This audio is really special as the tones are projected away from any surface disturbance and are delivered with a razor sharp edge . The tones are sensational from this record , delivered with a pinpoint precision that only these early Mono recordings can convey.

Without a doubt, one of the best examples of one of the rarest Stones classic album releases.

A high quality record , presented with a luxurious 3-D gatefold sleeve. Sheer investment quality and not to be missed .Will be hard pressed to locate a better example of this huge, Stones’ classic .
