Description
Unusual item featuring 2 tv themes by Ron Grainer headed`The Music Centre` but with no identifying numbers anywhere on the record or label. This is certainly an acetate-it is clearly based on a metal disc (visible in the edge of the spindle hole):-it is also colder to touch and more rigid than a vinyl record.
I cannot assist further as to the provenance of the item, save that `Erle Music` was Grainer`s own publishing company (Erle being his middle name). Presumably, this was made by that company to be circulated to recording artists, labels, media etc., but this is pure speculation on my part.
The 2 tracks were of course both released by RCA but as separate issues.
(Incidentally, the version of the `Prisoner` theme seems to be the shorter one, played over the closing credits.)
Both sides play well; there is some `crackle`, but not very noticeable after the start of the music:-there are some `hairline` marks, but nothing to spoil the sound quality:-probably a VG on the Goldmine scale. Labels are in similar condition.
