Incredibly rare original MINT 1974 UK FIRST PRESSING 10-track double live LP on the Polydor label, housed in a silvered gatefold sleeve with tour photos inside. Unquestionably one of the greatest live albums of all time.
The records are in Mint condition and sound as wonderful as ever, while the cover (which shows only a few minor signs of age compared to the more usual condition of this type of sleeve) and inners fully merit a Very Good grading. See pics. A superb copy of this hard-to-find classic!

This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine Mint/VG condition UK first issue. The records are in flawless Mint condition and the cover and inners are in Very Good condition. All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, dog-ears, stickers, writing, or the like apart from a few light marks on the bottom left of the front cover and some light storage wear. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1974, not reprints or replacements. The LPs are the original 1974 UK Polydor stereo LPs, which were only played once or twice on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

Irish Tour '74 is a double-album by Rory Gallagher, compiled from live recordings made at concerts on an Irish Tour in January 1974 at Belfast Ulster Hall, Dublin Carlton Cinema and Cork City Hall. "Back on My Stompin' Ground (After Hours)" was taken from a jam session during the tour on the Lane Mobile Unit. Irish Tour has sold in excess of two million copies worldwide. This is the very rare original on the Polydor label in a silvered gatefold sleeve.
An article in a Belfast daily newspaper stated: "Rory Gallagher never forgot Northern Ireland, he returned throughout the '70s when few other artists of his calibre dared come near the place."

Rory has always been regarded as a master of the guitar and this live recording is proof positive that any hyperbole you have ever heard about his ability to make any type of guitar sing is all true. The man is literally in a league of his own. He is without doubt the best guitar player to ever come out of Ireland, possibly closely followed by Jim Armstrong (Them/Skboo/Jim Armstrong Blues Band/Light).
His backing band at this stage were I believe the finest that he ever had. Gerry McAvoy on bass, the only constant throughout Rory’s solo career, solidly nailing the beat and shaping the changes while Rory soloed. Lou Martin on keyboards, adding a breadth to the live sound that is lacking in the trio setup. I love the sound of the cheap electric piano that he uses on a couple of the tracks, not flash, nothing fancy, just 100% right for the song. Finally Rod De'Ath on drums, flexible and always adding the right feel to each and every change the songs go through as the pace is held back and them ramped up to drive the crowd wild.
For anyone with any interest in Rory Gallagher’s music this must surely be a must buy.
