This beautiful and exceedingly rare 2LP box set – issued only in Spain – from Spanish Decca (SXL 29033/34, Spanish pressing, black/silver WB FFSS labels, stereo, booklet included) features Rosa Sabater’s magnificent traversal of Isaac Albeniz’s Iberia,made in September 1967 (producer: Manuel Pascal / engineer: Miguel Sésar), one of the few recordings of this work that can be spoken of in the same breath as those by Alicia de Larrocha (Decca and HMV / Hispavox) and, more recently, Artur Pizarro (Linn Records).

This set was never released outside of Spain and, to my knowledge, has never been re-issued on compact disc. It also exists in a Decca LXT pressing; the stereo is much rarer.

Included is a full-size, 12-page booklet with extensive liner notes on the music by Juan Arnau (printed in Spanish only), as well as several portraits of Albeniz and two of Sabater as well.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the box is EXCELLENT. There is light edgewear and shelfwear, but that is all. However, there are no seamsplits, corner breaks, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the box remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the original 12-page booklet is EXCELLENT. There is some discoloration and spotting, but no markings, the pages remain crisp and bright, the binding perfect.

The condition of the 2 LPs is VERY GOOD throughout. Although there is light surfaces noise and scattered tics, none of these minor blemishes are overly obtrusive and playback remains enjoyable. However, those wanting flawless or NM copies are kindly advised to look elsewhere. In all, these rate as very good collector's copies.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
