Description

Rosalyn Tureck--Bach Goldberg Variations, 2-LP Box, Allegro 3033. On the dead wax: There is an inscribed "1A" on three of the sides (nothing on Side C). May well be the 1st pressing of the first version  of Tureck's Goldberg (and the first ever-recorded piano version). The Allegro 3033 release predates the HMV Alp 1548 by eight years.
Vinyl: Very Good... Just a few seconds of surface noise but not infrequent ticking on the four sides. Most ticks are of low-volume and while certainly far from ideal the problems do not prevent one fully appreciating Tureck's completely individual approach to the Goldberg. (Interesting to compare to Gould as well, since Gould cited Tureck as his only piano influence.)
Covers: Very Good Plus... The seam connecting the front and back of the box is split. Very slight fraying at two corners. Otherwise is in excellent shape, clean and bright with no other problems.
