    Rare intact 1947  Roy Acuff  and his Smoky Mountain Boys "Songs of the Smoky Mountains" 4 record set from Columbia records - released 10/13/47. This is the first edition set with the records numbered  37596, 37597, 37598 and 37599. Set is in wonderful condition considering the are approaching their 70th anniversary this fall. The sound of these records is remarkable - my mom who is 81 years young enjoyed them when I test played them - the Grand Ole Opry was a staple on the radio in her home when she was growing up and a young woman. Older recording are pure and simple no fancy recording studio equipment - just a guy trying his best to imitate a train whistle!  (I can appreciate this as I am an old time radio fan.) Excellent Used Condition - Tested on modern 78 RPM compatible turntable - sound great, no skips or problems playing them. Records are free of cracks, chips and warping. Only a few tiny faint scratches seen - one long faint scratch on Low and Lonely, did not effect play. All records have some fingerprint marks - not an expert at cleaning old records, only gently wiped them with a damp soft linen cloth to remove dust before test playing them. The cardboard cover shows age / wear especially at corners and edges. Paper sleeves have yellowed and become fragile with age - only the second sleeve has begun to split at the center seam on back side - no other tears, bends or stains. The paper flap connecting the sleeves to the cardboard cover at the back page has come loose - glue has deteriorated - paper intact - could be re-glued but this may put too much stress on the fragile paper when you open and close the album, I would just leave it be.
