Original UK Harvest label stereo press.

This is the fourth album by Roy Harper, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1969 and the first issued by Harvest records in January 1970, reaching no.20 in the UK charts. The Harvest deal was arranged by Paul Jenner, manager of Pink Floyd who also managed Harper during the 1970's. The Nice also collaborated with him in the studio on the Track 'Hells Angels'. Roy Harper has said of the album, "for the first time in my recording career, proper care and attention was paid to the presentation of the songs"....

This is the first label variant with the 'H. ASH' & 'The Gramophone Co..' text label credits, with no EMI boxes & the A-2 B-2 matrices, with the 1-O 3-P stampers of the very first 1970 pressings.

The Ernest J Day & Co front laminated gatefold sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear & some light laminate storage wear/creasing on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, with some fading and laminate lifting. The plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with only a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs/marks which do not affect play visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, still a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; SHVL-766, A-2 stamper 1-O, B-2 stamper 3-P. This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1970 UK stereo issue of this album!
