Roy Orbison At The Rock House RARE! 1961 recording Sun LP 1260 No Reserve!

Roy Orbison at the Rock House SUN LP 1260

This is the first album by Roy Orbison. It was released in 1961 by Sun Records at a time when Orbison had already moved to the Monument label but had not yet put out an album. Sun Records owner Sam Phillips had a collection of songs Orbison had recorded at Sun between 1956 and '58. Phillips capitalized on the national recognition Orbison had achieved at Monument through three major hit single in 1960 and '61 that had gone to the top of the Billboard charts.

This is an extremely rare album.  I played both sides on three different turntables and enjoyed it immensely.. Especially since he is one of my top 3 favorite artists of all time. Here is the best I can describe the record.Track One on B-side plays through however, I notice slight inconsistancy at one point in the track.  Background noise on most tracks. Upbeat tempo songs have little affect. Ballad more affect. Record shows visual  warp when played. Visual brush marks. Per my rating system below, I rate the vinyl at VG- (minus).

See pictures for cover. Slight discoloration area  on front top and side. Same on the back cover top. Overall, visual is not bad. Super size pictures for a good look.

This LP in better published rating grade is listed at E-Bay between $250 - $650.00. Here is an opportunity to have this  LP at a much lower price. You may some day find a better copy, maybe not. If you are the successful bidder and feel that it is not as described and you do not want to keep it, I offer a money back guarantee, including shipping and return shipping cost.  Please contact me prior to leaving feedback in order for me to insure your complete satisfaction.  Don't Miss This One - No RESERVE!

In an ideal world, every record would be played before it is graded. However, the time involved makes it impractical. Unless otherwise noted, records are visually graded.

  •  Sealed - means the record shrink wrap was never opened
  • Near Mint  - A nearly perfect record.  Should show no obvious signs of wear. An LP Jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect.
  • Very Good+(plus)- Will show some signs of play, but was generally well cared for.
Surface of vinyl could have very light scratches and / or some light scuffs that don't affect the sound. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration. The LP jacket may have slight signs of wear and could have a slight seam split.
  • Very Good Many of the defects found in a vg+ record are more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing. Record will not skip, however there may be tick or scratchy sound when played.  Groove wear could be noticeable, as well as light scratches that do not normally affect the sound.
Covers may be soiled or have very noticeable ring wear and split seams on one or both sides.
  • Very Good (-) minus.  This grade means the record is still can be enjoyable and that it will not skip but may have loud ticks and a scratchy sound all through out the recordings.
  • Good (plus) - Good does not mean Bad.  Some records might only be listed in Good condition, but may play better than they look  because of being a deep groove, (where disc grooves were cut deeper into the vinyl).  The record should play without skipping but could be quite noisy.  The jacket will have seam splits, tape, writing, excessive ring wear.  I usually only offer this grade for records that are scarce or if someone wants a copy until they find one in better condition.
  • Poor – Usually not worth collecting and value is no more that 10% of a Mint Copy. You really have  to want this record!
Abbreviations: DJ=DJ copy, SF=same flipWOL = writing on label, SOL = sticker on label, XOL = cross on label, TOL = tear on label,DH = drillhole, WA = warp,
