Description

An original 1st PLUM pressing on LONDON. That's 1964 - it's nearing 60 years of age. Crikey - they knew how to make vinyl back in the day. This copy is playing like it's 1964! 'Recording 1st published' is exhibiting on the labels and the tax code is MT. Matrix 1B/1B. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono cover. We also have the original  Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Irrespective of vintage - this LP really is in terrific condition. How the hell it has survived this well preserved I'll never know! A couple of light marks per side, one very superficial trail - noting remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slightest deviation.. Well, these Plum copies are legendary for the sound - and this copy is no exception. If you need to hear ROY crooning right next to you - this is definitely the closest you'll ever get. Tremendous warmth and presence. I guess the copy has seen light use, but we're also very close onto those original masters - so that's helping too. Absolutely love it. Plays clean throughout - which is no mean feat as some of theses tracks are super popular and others have very intricate moments. All I could make out was a few minor crackles briefly in the intro to 'Crowd' and that was about it.. Top of the line - you won't find a better copy for audio. It even manages to hold it's own when Roy goes into those full throttle moments. The mouth organ in 'Candy Man' is epic. The cymbal strikes at the start of 'Falling' are incredibly realistic. A stellar level of playback.
Cover (Ex-) For the vintage very respectable indeed. The front seems to have avoided the usual ageing and laminate lift mess. A couple of thumbnails - but that's about it. The rear has avoided most of the usual ageing process - just slight evidence in places. Very little edge wear. Slightest damage to bottom right corner flipback [fully secured just minor cosmetic]. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. Bag present. No splits.
