Description

Ruben (Reuben) & the Jets on Verve 10632 from 1968. The record is in glossy VG++ condition with a lite outside storage warp that DNAP at all and the labels are as seen. This is the 1st press stock copy with Ruben misspelled Reuben. Very rare issue!

I'm sorry about the higher international Postal rates but the US Post Office has almost doubled the rates in some cases. I'm am not making a profit on these rates. As a matter of fact these new rates are still a bit under what the PO is charging me. 
This has to be done for tracking purposes and is both for the buyer's and seller's protection. ** NO EXCEPTIONS **. Too many "Item Not Received" filings and a lot of sellers are getting hit with charge backs. I regret that I have to resort to this type of international shipping policy but as a seller I have no choice. I must protect my product from the small % of disreputable buyers and corrupt customs and postal services etc.

   "REUBEN AND THE JETS - DESERI / JELLY ROLL GUM DROP - WITHDRAWN 7" VINYL RECORD SINGLE - WITH THE MIS- SPELLING OF REUBEN [ IT SHOULD BE RUBEN ] - VERVE - VK-10632 BUT HAS THE FIRST HINT OF A BIZARRE MATRIX - BIZ-101-B THAT HAS A LINE GOING THRU IT ON THE B SIDE TRAIL OFF.

HERE'S THE STORY ABOUT THIS SINGLE; FIRST OF ALL WE ALL KNOW THAT RUBEN AND THE JETS BACK IN 1968 WERE REALLY FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION SO IN 1968 THE RUBIN AND THE JETS LP WAS RELEASED. ALSO IN 1968 FRANK ZAPPA HAD JUST ABOUT ALL THAT HE COULD TAKE FROM THE VERVE LABEL AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF FORMING HIS OWN BIZARRE RECORD LABEL WHICH IN ANOTHER YEAR ALONG WITH HIS STRAIGHT RECORD LABEL WOULD SIGN WITH WARNER BROS., BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY. ANYWAY IN 1968 FRANK DECIDED HE WANTED TO RELEASE A SINGLE FROM HIS RUBEN AND THE JETS LP AND THEY EVENTUALLY DECIDED ON DESERI / JELLY ROLL GUM DROP. THIS SINGLE WITH THE "E" IN RUBEN IS THE FIRST PRESSING WHICH FRANK THOUGHT ABOUT PUTTING OUT ON HIS OWN BIZARRE LABEL BUT VERVE WOULDN'T HAVE ANY OF THAT SORT OF CRAP FROM FRANK WHO WAS STILL UNDER CONTRACT WITH MGM. THAT'S WHY THE " BIZ " MATRIX IS CROSSED OUT BUT WHEN MGM / VERVE IN THEIR HURRY PRESSED THIS SINGLE THEY QUICKLY DISCOVERED THAT THE SPELLING OF REUBEN WAS WRONG AND WITHDREW THIS SINGLE WHICH WAS REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT SPELLING VERSION AND NO BIZ MATRIX. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THE WORD " WITHDREW " IS CORRECT BECAUSE THERE ARE SO FEW OF THESE AROUND THAT THE ONES THAT SURVIVED MIGHT JUST HAVE SLIPPED OUT OF THE RECORD PLANT WITH SOME EMPLOYEES AND NONE OF THE ACTUAL REUBEN VERSIONS WERE EVER DISTRIBUTED".
