Description

If you’re looking at this ad then you probably know what this album is. Recorded on 4-track at an artists’ commune in Welwyn Garden City in 1980 and sold through a record shop in Hertford. The cover is a plain white sleeve with a comic strip pasted on the front and track and recording details on the back. The card sleeve is taped together top and bottom but I believe that’s how they were sold – no expense spared!

The only two contributors I’d ever heard of (and I live in Hertfordshire!) were Portion Control and the Marine Girls, and this appears to be both bands’ first recorded output. It’s on the Naïve label and is totally original.

The vinyl has no obvious marks and doesn’t look as if it’s been played much. The cover is signed by the members of The Plugs and by someone else who claims to be a member of The Shots and formerly The Vibrators (neither of whom appear on the album!). It is rather grubby (white tends to show the dirt) but both stick-on labels are undamaged.

Sorry, but I’m not going to let this one go for a song – I’d rather keep it.
